Question:I need your help with something. I've been having this artists block for almost a month now and it's about to make me stop drawing period. Im not liking my style and im trying to change it up, but everything I draw I hate and its frustrating! Help? - plxystation4
One: Decisions that are as simple as “to draw or not to draw” should need no assistance from someone else. It is a personal, internal conflict and the only way you can help yourself is by realizing whether you ultimately have a passion for drawing or not. If you are the former, you’ll understand where your expectations should be at because an artist’s journey is an infinite adventure of ups and downs; it will not be easy but it can be fun.
Two: I am not going to help you continue doing something you say you hate so I will advise you to either take a break and stop drawing because hating something you do isn’t right or reevaluate why you draw because your purpose is what drives you.
Personally, I draw because I want to. I love it. I understand my weaknesses so I work on them. I realize I will never achieve everything that I want but to stop trying means I’ve already failed. So I won’t give up. As long as I can, I will continue drawing and that means my journey is a never ending experience and I’m ok with that because it’s been awesome so far. I can only hope that what I do inspires other artists because it is other artists that also inspire me. Best of all, as long as there is life, I’ll have something to draw from. Get it? I draw inspiration from life to draw.
"I realize I will never achieve everything that I want but to stop trying means I’ve already failed. So I won’t give up."
Probably the most insightful thing I will read all day.
